Towing trucks get stuck too.
Towing vehicles are on almost every highway, maybe because vehicular breakdowns are unavoidable, it is the same with our Faith walk, it is almost impossible to have a hitch-free ride, and that is why God has generously given us the gift of men to aid our walk with him
Over the last couple of years, I have found myself being responsible for the lives of some people, and this responsibility has made me assume that I am always going to be perfect and not prone to sin or temptation, but the last few months have taught me that I am very much human and I need to ask Jesus to help me at every point in time. Quite a humbling experience if you ask me.
I have struggled to pray, struggled to fast, struggled with obedience, and even found it hard to extend grace to others. In all these, I kept asking myself how do I become all that God has purposed for and called me to be. How do I help others when even I am struggling? The answer is quite simple “My grace is sufficient for you, and my strength is made perfect in your weakness”
God has taught me two things. First He said to me, “You do realize that towing trucks get stuck too?” And that was where it all started to change for me. I realized that it is perfectly normal due to my human nature to struggle with a few things and that my struggles and inadequacies do not reduce the person of God, nor do they negate all that God has spoken concerning me!
The second thing is that God takes us through things so that we can help others out of those same things. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comforts, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” How would we be able to help those in pain if we have never felt their pain? And we have never experienced what it is like to be in their shoes?
I am learning that God is taking me through things because He is building strength, capacity, and resilience in me. Oh, also maybe because God can somehow trust me, that like Job Jnr (God abegg o) He has seen a track record of ‘though he yet slay me, I will trust in Him’ in me. So, He knows that whatever it is, I will find my way back to Him. So that when He is done cooking me, I will be a pleasing aroma of Christ that invites many out of their bondage and pain into a life of newness with and in God.
These scriptures combined have made so much sense to me since God opened my eyes to them. God is taking you through things so that you can be a deliverer, a voice, and not an echo, and you can rescue others. How can you help people when you don’t even understand what it is like to be in their shoes? Hebrews says we do not have a high priest who is alien to how we feel. Jesus had to come down to Earth in human form so that He could feel all the things you would ever feel. Maybe God wants you to feel a little like Jesus so someday you too can say “Oh, I’ve been there before, I know exactly how it feels, and here’s how God helped me through it” to someone else who might be going through a similar story. The capacity you have asked for will not just come like a garment descending from heaven, you asked for patience expect things to rile you up and ruffle your feathers. Capacity does not come cheap!
So, dear child of God, when next you feel stuck and wonder why all that is happening to you, remember, towing trucks get stuck too, and that is never always the end for them. There’s a beautiful story God is writing with you. Don’t ruin it!
I love you, and I am rooting for you.
P.S. My birthday is tomorrow, and I would appreciate a nice email from you amcp553@gmail.com .
